The portrayal of LGB issues in the media has without doubt, improved over recent years. At local level some of this has been directly influenced by the action of some individuals and groups, for example Mike, the Publicity Officer at Gay Switchboard.
Papers such as the Evening Mail and Birmingham Post have until recently been notoriously anti gay.
