First published in 1971, the Birmingham was produced monthly and contained news, events and editorial. It was distributed in a variety of ways from street sales in place such as the to sympathetic outlets such as the . It was also available via subscription. The covers became more elaborate and artistic over the years. The newsletter was retitled in December 1974.
