Birmingham Pride Community Trust
Birmingham Pride Community Trust (BPCT) works with and for the
lesbian, gay and bisexual community in Birmingham. BPCT has a
dozen Trustees and a part-time Co-ordinator. BPCT set up and supports a Forum of 35+ local LGB groups and LGB focussed
organisations, which meets quarterly. The Trust organises events and runs
projects, such as the Gay Birmingham Remembered project.
"Our core purpose is to develop the capacity of the local LGB community and to influence those organisations and services which affect the quality of life of its members.
We will research, seek out or identify evidence and information which
will validate and add weight to our main activities and help ensure
credibility with both the LGB community and service providers.
We will also, proactively and reactively, share information and signpost individuals and organisations to other sources particularly where this will enable other organisations to contribute to the process of improving quality of life for the LGB community."
BPCT was set up in 2002, with a small donation from profits from the Birmingham Pride festival, and has received a small annual grant from Birmingham City Council since 2006, and became a charity in February 2007.
We have an information e-group which circulates information about a range of issues of interest to Birmingham's LGB community.
